FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program
Florida Bank of Jacksonville is participating in the FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2009, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. The definition of noninterest-bearing transaction accounts under the program includes two interest bearing checking account categories:
Interest Bearing Checking (NOW) Accounts paying 0.50% or less
Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOTAs)
The Premium Interest Checking Account is not considered a low interest bearing checking account and, therefore, does not qualify for this program. The Premium Interest Checking does qualify for normal FDIC insurance coverage.
Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.
